Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. The Android SDK provides the tools and APIs necessary to begin developing applications that run on Android-powered devices.You can find more information here.

To Start with Android, you may refer to the following steps:

1> Download and install the newest Android SDK. Setup system environment variable, append "%ANDROID_SDK_HOME%\tools" to %PATH% variable on windows system. For example, my %ANDROID_SDK_HOME% is "D:\DevTools\android-sdk", so I append "D:\DevTools\android-sdk\tools" to %PATH%. Refer to: http://developer.android.com

2> Eclipse with ADT plugin installed is recommended develop environment. Refer to: http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/eclipse-adt.html

3> After all things above mentioned are installed, you may start the Android Hello World Toturial.

4> After completing this simple toturial, to deeper understand Android Application Fundamentals is needed. Then you may try out the Android Notepad Toturial. After this, it's your own way to go on. : )

5> If you want to give Google Android a try, but don't feel like buying a T-Mobile G1/G2/G3 or just don't have one currently. You may try Live-Android, with which you can experience Google Android Operation System just on ur PC. And you could run Live-Android in a virtualization application like VirtualBox or any other, just as you wish.
